We are looking for participants for the international encounter project PATINA / ПАТИНА. Together with Synnika e.V. and Grupa arhitekata, we invite you to join an interdisciplinary art and research project exploring memorial sites of the Second World War and the Holocaust in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia. The goal is to develop multimedia contributions that engage with these memorials, critically reflect on contemporary approaches to them, and actively contribute to the discourse on remembrance culture.
The project includes a journey from June 16 to 27, 2025, through Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia, visiting key antifascist memorial sites. During and after the trip, participants will develop their own projects in response to the memorials. These projects can take various forms, both documentary and artistic – such as photography, texts, illustrations, performances, or interventions. We encourage interdisciplinary exchanges between creative and theoretical approaches to foster new synergies and innovative formats.
Who can apply?
We invite applications from individuals based in German-speaking countries and the Balkan region practicing visual and performing arts, art history, journalism, design, social and historical sciences, architecture, photography, or related fields. Prior knowledge of remembrance culture is welcome but not required
What we provide
All costs for travel, accommodation, and meals will be covered by the program. Additionally, we offer support in the development and realization of the participants' projects.
How to apply?
Submit your application by 31.3.2025 via email to naomirado@synnika.space with the following documents:
